Tourism Commissioner Bruce Hyde is scheduled to attend the following:
- May 4-9 - Meeting with French dignitaries regarding the 400th anniversary in 2009 of Samuel de Champlain's exploration of Lake Champlain, Honfleur and Brouage, France
- May 12 - Lake Champlain Quadricentennial Commission Leadership Team Meeting, Colchester
- May 15 - Travel and Recreation Council, Montpelier
- May 15 - National Tourism Week Reception, Statehouse, Montpelier
- May 21 - AirTran Airways Reception, Burlington
- May 29 - Lake Champlain Quadricentennial Commission Meeting, Colchester
- May 31-June 4 - International Pow Wow, Las Vegas

| VDTM Awards Grants to Chambers of Commerce |
| The Vermont Department of Tourism and Marketing will award $88,530 in matching funds to 13 chambers of commerce for out-of-state promotional opportunities.
The department’s matching fund program is intended to help Vermont chambers of commerce initiate or expand marketing programs, events, advertising campaigns and public relations projects that hold significant potential for measurable increases of out-of-state travelers to Vermont. The department will distribute the awards before June 30 in the form of dollar-for-dollar matching funds. Read more about the grant program and recipients.

| Tourism Initiative Grants Awarded |
| The Vermont Department of Tourism and Marketing has awarded $130,000 in matching grants to 19 private businesses and organizations through the Fund for Tourism Marketing Initiatives (FTMI) program. Read more about the FTMI program and the recipients and their programs here. |

| Find Out Who's Visiting Vermont |
| The Department of Tourism has released the most comprehensive, in-depth survey of Vermont visitors in many years. The Department and Economic & Policy Resources, Inc. (EPR) suveyed U.S> and Canadian visitors who requested travel materials from the State's VermontVacation.com Web site.

| Tourism Economic Impact Study Available |
| A benchmark study on the "Economic Impact of Visitor Expenditures on The Vermont Economy - 2005" is now available. The study was conducted for the department by Economic & Policy Resources, Inc.

8/26/2008- The Education Seminar for Tourism Organizations (ESTO), sponsored by the Travel Industry Association, is the premier education and networking event for destination marketing professionals. It will be held this year from August 23-26 in Bonita Springs, Florida.
Tourism officials from across the nation come together at ESTO to discuss fundamental and pressing issues affecting destination marketing.
