Marketing, Sales & Promo Opportunities
One of the department's primary functions is to use its resources to leverage greater marketing opportunities for Vermont's tourism businesses. Examples include reduced-cost advertising programs, special vacation package promotions, public relations initiatives and more.

Following are opportunities for your business available through the Vermont Department of Tourism and Marketing (VDTM) and the department's partners. Be sure to check this section of the site often. Many marketing opportunities are available only for a limited time, while others are ongoing.

2012 Top 10 Vermont Civil War Events & Exhibits Contest Deadline

The following are opportunities to share VDTM's booth at consumer shows in the North American Market.

Boston Globe Travel Show
Feb. 10-12 Cost: $1,500 -- TAKEN

Toronto Adventure Show
Feb. 24-26 Cost: $1,000

Ottawa Travel & Vacation Show
Mar. 10-11 Cost: $1,000

Hartford Summerfest
May. 5-6 Cost: $400

VDTM and the Vermont Civil War Sesquicentennial Commission, invite you to submit your events and exhibits to be considered as one the top ten Vermont Civil War Sesquicentennial events in 2012.
Deadline is February 8, 2012.
Is your Vermont Civil War event or exhibit a contender for the Top 10 List? It qualifies if:

  • Open to the public

  • Takes place in Vermont

  • Relates to the Civil War, the Civil War era, and/or the role played by Vermonters on the battlefront and on the home front.

Events can be for any age group and/or interest, and will be judged by an independent panel. They'll be looking for events of all kinds that engage people of all ages in an understanding and appreciation of Vermont and the Civil War.

Winners will be included in print and web publications and promotions to in-state and out-of-state audiences - including the 2012 Vermont and the Civil War rack card and Vermont Welcome Center displays.

Remember: the deadline is January 31, 2012. And if you don't have something for this year, plan early for upcoming deadlines: December 1, 2012 for 2013 Top 10 Awards, and December 1, 2013 for 2014 Top 10 Awards.

The Eastern States Exposition (The Big E) in Springfield, Mass is the ninth largest fair in North America with an annual attendance of more than one million! This is a wonderful opportunity to not only promote our state, but your region, business, service or product.  

VDTM organizes volunteers to work the information booth in the Vermont building at The Big E.  You will have the opportunity to meet thousands of potential visitors and can talk with them face-to-face about visiting Vermont as well as your particular interest! Find out more here.

April's Vermont Travel Industry Conference draws one of the largest gatherings of tourism professionals in the state including owners, managers and employees of the many businesses connected to this important segment of the economy. Find out more about this important annual event at their website.
