Deskside Visits
Meeting face-to-face with writers and editors is an effective strategy for reaching them. Often it is difficult for writers to schedule a trip to Vermont so, on occasion, the Vermont Department of Tourism and Marketing (VDTM) will take Vermont to them. Deskside visits are conducted in targeted key media markets like New York City, Boston and Washington D.C. Often VDTM partners with the private and public sector on these initiatives to reduce expenses, as well as broaden the subject matter we cover.

Individual press trips are generally set up as requested by writers or publications. The Vermont Department of Tourism and Marketing (VDTM) works closely with each individual writer to plan the trip in accordance with their interests, requests, and the demographics of the publication.

VDTM partners with Regional Marketing Programs and marketing partners to develop press trips and find accommodations. If your property is interested in hosting a press trip, please let us know.

International press trips have special requirements. For most European publications, writers want to visit properties that already deal with receptive tour operators or other consumer travel agents as most travelers from these countries are not independent travelers.
