Advertising: Fall 2009

Nick, apple grower

VERMONT HAS CHARACTER... AND CHARACTERS. EXPERIENCE THE PEOPLE AND CHARACTER THAT MAKE VERMONT…VERMONT.

This message is at the heart of Vermont Tourism’s fall marketing campaign in major metropolitan markets to draw more visitors to the state. When people visit Vermont in the fall, they are likely to go apple-picking, get lost in a corn maze, hike some trails, explore our downtowns...whatever they decide to do, they will likely meet some of our local characters along the way and hear some fun stories. This is Vermont.

Radio Creative
For our radio advertising, we went out to meet the people who live and work in Vermont to simply have conversations. The radio spots (and online video that was filmed during the interviews) contain no scripted lines by our real Vermonters. This is real Vermont, this is a big part of visiting our state - meeting the people who make it work and hearing a bit of their stories.

Listen to some of the stories below:

radio Characters - Nick Cowles, apple grower
radio Characters - Mike Boudreau, corn maze guy

Online Creative
Nick, apple farmerOur animated online ads are designed to produce measurable results and drive people to our website, specifically to the "Characters" landing page created exclusively for this campaign.

Here is an example of the banner ads running in our advertising markets.

Out of Home
VDTM bought Out of Home advertising in key Boston and NYC train stations this summer. These very large indoor signs include various sizes of beautiful landscape images of Vermont highlighted with different icons to help show what a visitor could be doing on a trip to Vermont. A collage of examples from South Station in Boston is below:
