Summer Packages For Floridians

The Vermont Department of Tourism & Marketing wants to market the Green Mountain State to Florida residents this summer through a special promotion. We are encouraging lodging properties to come up with special packages to lure Floridians to Vermont. What kind of package you offer is entirely up to you – be as creative as you want to be!

What is a package?

  • A package must contain lodging.
  • A package offers a travel experience to travelers; it goes beyond an overnight stay.
  • It can be as simple as adding a voucher for admission to an attraction or a gift of Vermont maple syrup, cheese or wine - or can be a more extensive package and experience.
  • VDTM requires packages listed at www.VermontVacation.com/packages to be commissionable.
  • VDTM will market this promotion through a marketing and public relations campaign this spring and summer in Florida. Your package will also be listed in the packages section of www.VermontVacation.com.
Please submit your package proposals to Erica.Houskeeper@state.vt.us.

National Tourism Week May 10-18, 2008

The Travel Industry Association (TIA) has announced the selection of “Discover Great American Traditions” as the theme for the 25th annual National Tourism Week May 10-18.

The silver anniversary theme encourages travel to American locales and highlights the role that tourism plays in discovering the icons of a destination. Established in 1983, National Tourism Week is an annual event designed to increase awareness of the travel and tourism industry’s economic, cultural, and social contributions to the United States.

Stay tuned for National Tourism Week events and activities in Vermont. For more information, visit www.TIA.org.

The Today Show Broadcasts from Vermont

The Today Show aired its February 21 broadcast live from Sugarbush Resort, drawing hundreds of fans to the ski area for a glimpse of Matt Lauer, Meredith Vieira, Ann Curry and Al Roker.

Snowboarding and skiing were featured on the show, as were Vermont foods, antiques and local personalities. The show was part of “The Today Show Takes a Winter Break,” which marked the first time ever the entire Today anchor team has broadcast live from a remote location. For highlights of the show, visit www.sugarbush.com.
